It is with great pleasure that my son and/or daughter (when they are with me) welcome you to our large garden, at the foot of a mango tree, tree ferns and a majestic cinnamomum camphora (camphor tree).
The jasmine next to the mango tree exhales its fragrance at sunset, and the gentle sound of the small river below - La Ravine des Grègues - lulls us into pleasant reverie.
Coconuts, red bananas, jacques, avocados, bibasses, citrus fruits, letchis, longanis... (which you can pick when you're in season), you may hear little tangs rummaging in the tall grass, or Zo the goose chirping.
The garden is perfectly healthy (I'm passionate about permaculture -designer perma since 2013 / a subject on which I always enjoy talking- I don't use any phytosanitary products).
If it weren't for the presence of the neighbor's house, you'd have the feeling of being in a little forest for hiking.
What's more, for the more adventurous, the plot of land leads down to the banks of La Ravine des Grègues, a small river still flowing in a completely free, almost private nature zone.
We are located equidistant between Saint-Pierre and Saint-Joseph, about ten minutes above Grand Anse beach and the Manapany basin, at a fairly ideal altitude: not too cool in winter and very pleasant in summer.

The setting
Le Tiers-Lieu du Sud Sauvage (please check the page to make sure the spirit and lifestyle suit you) is an atypical place where great things are regularly organized: cultural events, training courses, welcoming wwoofers for participative workcamps...
Even if it's exceptional, I prefer to write that there may be occasional noise from dogs in the neighborhood, geese or other animals, but in reality it's 99% of the time very quiet.
There's virtually no road noise,
The lower pitches are the most in the green/forest environment, but they are about ten meters from the chicken coop and the neighbor's house (which is below with no walls, just a little vegetation: avocado tree, letchis).
Otherwise, as is the case just about everywhere on Reunion Island - and even more so in humid areas - expect to be in the company of mosquitoes, depending on the season/time/weather.
Remember that we're in the Sud Sauvage, surrounded by abundant vegetation and close to a ravine.

The spots
We offer 5 different locations:
1) If you're in a van, at the parking area,
2) under the stilts
3) against the house
4) 2 pitches on the lower ground at the foot of the mango or camphor trees. Forest-like environment, but maintained from time to time / more open than a wild forest.
The pitch under the mango tree can accommodate a 2-person bivouac tent;
- the space under the camphor tree / under a letchi tree may offer a small natural carpet of leaves for those who want to add a little softness.
The space under the mango tree and the one against the house benefit from the sunlight first and more than the others,
the one under the camphor tree is more sheltered,
And under the stilts... you're completely sheltered :)

The activities
On site, you can descend into the gully (below the henhouse), which is always "under water" (depending on the time of year, it circulates more or less), several thousand square meters of "wild" land where the presence of man is almost impalpable, a delight.
A few minutes' walk away, you'll find a small store typical of the lontan era: boutik sinoi, which doesn't pay much for its charm, but can help you out and is truly authentic, the kind of place that seems to have remained unchanged for decades and is tending to disappear,
Le piton de l'entonnoir (see photo on the Tiers-Lieu du Sud Sauvage Facebook page) offers a magnificent view of the ocean, the mountains, the town of Saint-Joseph below and... the stars at night!
A few minutes' drive away is La Plaine des Grègues, where you'll find the Maison du Curcuma, a fine island restaurant (Le Tangor) and some great walks;
Not far away is the Domaine du Relai, with its wide-open spaces, equestrian center, great people and great horses! It's great to take a short ride on horseback;
A dozen or fifteen minutes away, you can take a dip in the ocean: Grand Anse beach with its coconut palms and bathing area protected by a rocky dike, Manapany with its coated pool, Ti Sable beach...
I strongly encourage you to discover the Langevin river, its waterfalls (from Grand Galet to the Jacqueline waterfall at the mouth), the tiny fishing port (a few small fishing boats sleep under a sumptuous rubber), the fitness trail / coastal walk,
Vincendo marine / Cap Jaune
Cap Méchant
The Garden of Perfumes and Spices...
I recommend you see it all!

Other things
Bézaves is on the outskirts of town, around ten minutes away, and apart from the store at the crossroads and the Vival in Carosse just below (2mn), you'll need to plan to go to Les Lianes next door, La Plaine des Grègues above or Saint-Joseph.
