What to do in Puy-de-Dôme

As a green department, there are countless hikes in Puy-de-Dôme.
The "Forêt de la Comté" is surveyed by 3 marked trails and extends over 1500 hectares. The Fleurides trail, the Gardelles trail or the Cheix Blanc trail are ideal for outdoor walks.
The Chastreix Sancy nature reserve offers beautiful landscapes, as well as preserved fauna, including hundreds of birds and even rare butterflies!
Clermont-Ferrand is the capital of the department. As city of art, Clermont-Ferrand has a historic center to visit, particularly for its Gothic cathedral. The Notre-Dame-du-Port Basilica is also not to be missed, as it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
We also recommend that you do not miss the following beautiful villages in the department: Montpeyroux (its keep and church are essential), Saint-Floret (for its castle) and Saint Saturnin for its church and castle.
Finally, we also recommend the castle of Murol, of Tournoël or the château d'Opme and its beautiful gardens.
