What to visit in Reims?

A showpiece of the city of Reims, Notre-Dame Cathedral has the particularity of having been, from 816 to 1825, the coronation site of 33 kings of France. It is also where Clovis was named in 498. The architectural unity and remarkable statuary of this 13th century building make it a masterpiece of Gothic art. Decorated with magnificent statues of angels with wings spread, Reims Cathedral amply deserves its nickname of Cathedral of Angels. Once inside, the eye is immediately drawn to the brightness of the nave and the splendid stained glass windows, most of which are from the 13th century. Don't miss to admire the blue stained glass windows of the axial chapel designed by contemporary artist Marc Chagall.
Next to the cathedral, the Palace of the Tau, an ancient archbishopric where the banquets of the coronations were organised, now houses the Museum of the Work of Our Lady in which tapestries, sculptures, the treasure of the cathedral and objects related to the coronation are exhibited.
