What to visit in the department of Seine-Saint-Denis

In Seine-Saint-Denis, the Saint-Denis basilica is one of the most important historical monuments. This Gothic basilica has, among other things, many recumbents and royal tombs, to be discovered during an open or commented visit. The castle of Gournay is listed as a historical monument. Dating from the 17th century, this castle houses the town hall of Gournay-sur-Marne. The castle of Saint-Ouen is also to be seen, and can be visited freely. Saint-Ouen is also known for its famous flea market, the world's largest antique market!
Seine-Saint-Denis also has beautiful green spaces. The Haute-Ile departmental park extends over 65 hectares. Many birds can be observed here thanks to the observatories arranged here and there. Its 3km circuit is also ideal for walking or mountain biking! The departmental park of Ile Saint-Denis extends over 23 hectares and is ideal for leisure activities. Indeed, the park offers many activities, such as a football field or table tennis tables. The Courneuve and Sausset departmental parks are also to be discovered. The Bondy forest is particularly appreciated, with its 230 hectares of greenery and playgrounds! Another highlight of the department: the Stade de France, where it is possible to visit its backstage and attend its many events, whether it's football games or concerts! We also recommend the Air and Space Museum, where many collections are on display. The museum also offers simulators and a planetarium.
Finally, the Parc de la Villette extends over more than 50 hectares, with its "26 follies" (funny buildings and structures). Many events take place there, such as open-air cinemas and festivals. At La Villette, the city of science or music is not to be missed, as is La Géode, which brings cinema to life in a different way for its visitors, with its giant cinema screen, one of the largest in the world!
