Angers is a city of real tourist interest, with a rich heritage, completed since 2010 by a theme park dedicated to plants, Terra Botanica. Angers, also a city of art and history, offers beautiful medieval monuments in its city center, such as the Episcopal Palace, or Adam's House with its wooden panels, and beautiful private mansions. There are also remarkable Renaissance buildings, such as the Barrault dwelling. The Alcazar Theatre bears witness to Art Nouveau architecture, and Art Deco is represented by the Blue House, with its mosaics by Isidore Odorico.
As far as religious monuments are concerned, you can visit the abbey church of Ronceray, the Saint-Maurice cathedral or the Saint-Aubin tower. Not to be overlooked are the eighteen parks and gardens in the city, with in particular the plant garden and the Mall garden, not to mention the arboretum park and its 1500 represented species. We must also mention the cultural events that punctuate the year: the Anjou festival, which comes immediately after the Avignon festival in terms of theater; the Premiers Plans festival, which is devoted to cinema; the Angers-BD festival devoted to comics.
The hanging of the Apocalypse, exposed in the heart of the castle, a masterpiece of medieval art of colossal proportions (106 meters in length) is yet another must-see in Angers. The Fine Arts Museum is also a visit not to be missed!
