Description

Hello , first of all I prefer prevention than cure :
- I do not accept stays of 1 night, please do not insist :-)
- I also don't accept delays of more than 30 minutes if you haven't told me in advance, as I have to pick you up in the village.
As soon as you have confirmed your reservation, please give me an arrival time between 11am and 1pm if possible.
- We reach the site via a dirt and gravel path that takes 4 to 5 minutes by car from the village of Gariguella.
Now that the important points have had a chance to be read, let me introduce myself :-)
I'm François, a 43-year-old Frenchman who left Toulouse in 2022 to be closer to the mountains and the sea.
I welcome you to my small organic olive grove 35 minutes from the French border and 15 minutes from the first magnificent beaches around Llança or Roses ( 25 min for Almadrava ).
10 min from Peralada Castle / Golf / Casino
15 min from Figueres for shopping or the DALI Museum and 15 min from Roses and Empuriabrava for Fiesta, parachute jumping or boat and jet ski trips, for example.
Just 30 minutes from Cadaquès and 50 minutes from the panoramic restaurant at Cap de Creus, which is just as much a must-see as Cap de Norfeu.

The surrounding scenery is sumptuous, especially the coastline filled with small turquoise coves.
If you like hiking or mountain biking, you'll love the small mountains.
Diving, water sports and good food are also among the most popular activities.
We're just 5 minutes from a typical Catalan village called Gariguella, with all the amenities you need, including a petrol station open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., lots of good-value restaurants, a few bars, the agricultural cooperative for wine, cosmetics and local produce, the mill for olive oil and by-products, the 2 honey producers, the bank, the tobacconist's, the butcher's, the chemist's and, above all, the unmissable SOL l'herboriste (the natural pharmacy that's well worth a visit).
A children's park with ping pong and numerous sports facilities are accessible in the village by car, but also on foot or by bike from the grounds :-)

I don't have any neighbors who live in the same valley as me, but the site is secure and watched over by forest rangers and neighboring hunters and farmers.
We protect each other because we're in the middle of a nature reserve where there's a risk of fire, so smoking is strictly forbidden except in your tent or in a communal area set aside for the purpose.

The setting

Between sea and mountains, surrounded by olive trees, holm oaks and vines, we breathe the pure air of the garrigue, filled with thyme, lavender and other Mediterranean plants...
A view of the Pic du Midi and sunset over the Pyrenees.
An ideal spot for stargazing, meditation or yoga.
The temperature rarely exceeds 32°C in midsummer, and there's often a refreshing breeze.
The climate is very mild and sunny in winter (between 15 and 20°C even in December and February, with a little cooler temperatures in January).

It's not unusual to come across wild boar, deer, hinds, foxes and (email hidden)There's little noise, but you can sometimes hear hunters' dogs or cars/trains in the distance, depending on the wind direction...

The spots

There are only 3 flat pitches, with no stumps or stones for tents.
Your vehicle will be next to your pitch.
The pitches are in full sun because we feel better in the sun 8 months a year, but from June onwards, the pitches will be in the shade most of the day...

The entrance to the site does not allow long vehicles such as campers or caravans over 6 meters long...
The pitches can accommodate a tent for 4 people and can be enlarged if you ask me beforehand.

The sanitary facilities

There are 2 electric showers available with water heated by the sun (or by a pan if needed in winter), but to be used only without soap or with 100% biodegradable natural soaps... This is very important, so I'll supply you with a large new bar of soap at cost price if you've forgotten to take one.
A dry toilet accessible to all.
No washbasins for the moment, but pure water without sanitary treatment and only available in 8-liter cans that I supply every day.
Please use an average of 2 x 8-liter cans per person per day.
1000-litre water storage tanks will be installed in July 2024, making access to water easier for everyone.

The amenities

Internet is available on the site, but the speed is not very high.
There's no kitchen for the moment, just tables and chairs.

Electricity is provided by the sun, so you can recharge all your electrical appliances once or twice a day from 8am to 10pm using a mobile battery and an extension lead outside next to the cottage.

The activities

Walks and discovering the surrounding nature.
We're on one of the many hiking trails that leads to the top of a mountain in 30 minutes from the site (an unmissable viewpoint).
The site itself will improve day by day, with games for young and old.
Petanque and MOLKY are already available, as are rackets for ping pong in the village or even badminton on the field.
Everything is possible in the surrounding area: hiking around Cap de Creus, Gariguella turtle reserve, visits to vineyards and castles, scuba diving, horseback riding, boat trips, paddle boarding, jet skiing, kite surfing, fishing, fruit picking, bars, restaurants, Dali museum, Peralada casino and golf course, shopping in Roses and Empuriabrava, go-karting, the giant Aquabrava waterslides, parachute jumping, plane rides, night clubs...

Other things

I refuse all last-minute bookings as my days are often full and I'm not necessarily on site all the time.
I prefer long stays and offer you one night for any stay of more than 6 nights (to be confirmed with me on arrival).
One-night stays are quite restrictive for me, so I almost always refuse them unless you've been here before or there are several of you in a converted vehicle.
This place is reserved for people who are calm, clean and respectful of the environment and life in general.
The local authorities can come very quickly, as they have already shown me, so I must insist that this place is reserved for benevolent people.
Please consult the site rules, which are quite specific and restrictive, but essential to the long-term smooth running of the site.

Rules

There are strict rules for everyone's well-being:

- There is no address to reach the site, so I have to pick you up in the village (10 minutes round trip).
Please give me a precise and respected meeting time, even if it means YOU arriving a little early rather than making ME wait for hours :-)
- All outsiders are strictly forbidden (even your friends or family, except with my prior exceptional agreement).
Only people with a valid reservation are allowed on the site.
- No smoking outside your tent
- No fires or barbecues (except in exceptional circumstances in winter).
- Don't leave any garbage on site, even temporarily, as the wind sometimes blows it away (garbage cans available on request at each pitch, to be emptied outside the site).
- Please avoid using the access road to the site more than 2 times a day by motorized vehicle.
You can get in and out as often as you like by electric or manual bike.
- No noisy motorized entry or exit between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m.
- Pets allowed under the responsibility of their owners (beware of barking, as people are often there to rest their minds).
- Naturism authorized, to be specified when booking for everyone's respect and comfort, I will set you back a little from the other holidaymakers.
- Children are welcome, but the environment is dangerous (ground full of stumps and vegetation that can be prickly or scratchy).
Children remain the sole responsibility of their parents.
- Please let me know the size of your vehicle if it is large, so that I can check that it can access the site, and the size of your tent, so that I can offer you a suitable pitch...

Why limit return trips to the site?

As a general rule, to avoid disturbing and damaging the communal road, it is forbidden to make several return trips a day. Please try to get in and out once a day each.

Thank you in advance for respecting these rules, which will enable the site to survive and improve day by day...
Otherwise I'd have to stop renting out pitches as we'd be annoyed by distant neighbors and local authorities...
We're on a non-habitable and protected site, so let's avoid upsetting the decision-makers who might put obstacles in our way...

The meeting point for your arrival will undoubtedly be the typical village bar called LA ESPERA.
It's on the main street with all the village shops.
A large parking lot awaits you at the bottom of this street, opposite the kindergarten behind the church.

Looking forward to meeting you ;-)

François

  • It was really beautiful at Francois' place, it was exactly what I expected:
Absolutely quiet, no annoying noises...situated in an olive grove...you can see the snow-covered Pyrenees from afar...
everything very simple, but everything you need is there... Francois is very open-minded and helpful. I would love to come back

  • François received us with kindness and attention in his little paradise among the olive trees under the stars.
An address to recommend for true nature lovers.
We wish him every success in his future projects!

  • François welcomed us with great presence and attention. We felt truly accompanied on our arrival in Spain. His grounds are a peaceful place that promises to be a real haven of peace when the landscaping is complete.

  • A very warm and friendly welcome and an unusual place for olive tree lovers.

  • Perfect location at the crossroads between Llança and Roses. Good communication with François via WhatsApp. At night, a few animals pass by and dogs bark in the distance, but the place is very quiet, surrounded by olive trees. Flat terrain. Some basic facilities are still missing, but the potential is there, with the possibility of spending a naturist holiday if you wish, with respect for everyone. A real plus. I look forward to coming back and seeing how things develop!

  • It was very nice at François! We really enjoyed the peace and quiet of the extensive olive field, the view of the mountains and the proximity to many beaches. At/in a small shed there is a simple dry toilet and battery operated shower that works well. François is very nice and accommodating, he has many tips for the area and takes good care of his guests.
Thank you François & best regards!

  • Just what we needed. A place in the middle of nowhere but at the same time close to everything... and safe! Françoise's description is completely accurate. And he was an excellent host, always attentive to us and very kind. He behaved like a friend, whom we will definitely visit again.

  • Great stay with François.

A quiet olive grove in a beautiful region. We were semi-autonomous for a semi-wild campsite.
I personally camped in the naturist version (very pleasant as the pitches are well spaced out and I'm a modest naturist ????).

Thank you very much. See you soon.

  • An unusual experience. Basically, we were looking for a place to camp without too much expense, and in the end we spent a week camping in the wild: water from the cans heating up for the open-air shower with a great view, well-maintained dry toilets, and the dream peace and quiet with neighbors but really far away!
I wasn't very reassured by the wild boars on the first evening, but it has to be said that they were more afraid of us than we were of them, so it's a detail that didn't bother me. The site was lost in the middle of olive groves and vineyards, but very safe.
You shouldn't come here thinking you're on a standard campsite, but it's the dream when you want peace and quiet, simplicity and superb scenery! The value for money is really very reasonable and affordable.
Thanks to François for the warm welcome, it's like being at home!

  • Very good location in the middle of nature, François is a very good host! I recommend

  • We camped in tents for 5 nights at the foot of the olive trees.

The dirt site is quiet and peaceful.

Well located for exploring the area.

An experience in nature. Outdoor shower, very pleasant in summer. Dry toilets are clean.

Water is supplied daily in jerry cans.

François does not live on site and is very easy to contact. Great advice on restaurants.

    We recommend the place.

    Thank you François.

  • Apart from an arrival that was not autonomous, which can lead to a few constraints, we had a very good 2-night stay with Francois. The place is magnificent, isolated in the mountains, and the disconnection is total! We also discovered a more eco-responsible way of life, which felt good for a few days.

  • Sleeping high up among the olive trees! A great experience! Lots of space, superb beaches to discover, 15 minutes from the tourist resort.
François is a bon vivant. We got on really well with him and we'll definitely be back again!

  • A great meeting in an extraordinary setting!
François welcomed us with a sincerity, openness and simplicity that are rare these days!
We'll be back for sure, to help him develop his land or just to chat in front of a magnificent sunset!
    Thanks again François!

  • On vacation with 2 girlfriends, being students we had a small budget and a desire for adventure and encounters, and that's exactly what we found at François'. His plot is very quiet, the location pleasant (there are no mosquitoes!), the equipment just right for a good balance between comfort and minimalism. And François is very friendly and available to advise us on visits, restaurants or beaches! We really had a great stay and if the opportunity arises we'll be happy to come back!

  • Very welcoming and friendly I recommend

  • We had an excellent stay on François' property. It's in a great location, and our only regret was that we didn't stay a little longer, as the region is so rich in scenery and culture.
The facilities provided, such as the shower and solar charging station, made us feel (almost) at home.
We'll be happy to come back to François' place!

  • François is a great contact and will put you at ease.
The place is very well located, provided you have a car.
    A great experience!

  • Incredible surroundings and super-friendly host!
I highly recommend it, the setting is idyllic.

  • Our host François made us feel welcome, friendly and well looked after, he can also give you advice on sightseeing, in a fairly large place with several pitches, the path to get there is a bit rocky, dusty and chaotic but on arrival a breathtaking view over fields of olive groves and mountains in the quiet, the location is strategically close to all kinds of tourist places such as cultural sites, beaches, markets, shops, hiking, village to visit ... finally the spot is perfectible, François strives and works to improve it to make it more comfortable and welcoming.... but there's still room for improvement, and François is working hard to make it more comfortable and welcoming.

  • Beautiful place. Quiet, only nature around. Perfect for a peaceful night

  • Our stay in this magnificent olive grove went very well.
Amenities are still rudimentary, but that's the spirit of home camping. François' plans for landscaping the grounds are the stuff of dreams! I invite you to try this before-and-after, which promises peace and quiet.
Llança's beaches and coves are sublime.

  • Great time in this little paradise just a few minutes from the beaches! We can't wait to come back :)

  • We had a great night.
François is a great host, direct and frank, an authentic guy just like his land.
The place is still "in its juice", and we can't wait to see when François finishes restoring and furnishing it.
15 minutes from heavenly coves that were almost deserted even on a Saturday, July 15. Thanks again to François, we were able to visit these beaches. Close to typical villages, don't hesitate to ask your host for restaurant tips - there's something for every budget and taste.
